Amber Stones

Amber is one of the most iconic but also misunderstood gemstones. For one thing, it isn’t even an actual mineral, it’s organic and made from prehistoric tree sap. On top of this, amber can come in various colors and shades, not just the orange/brown that it’s most known for. Other colors include green, red, black, and even blue.

Speaking of ancient times, amber was one of the first gemstones gathered by humans and was used as jewelry and decorative fixtures. It was also used for healing rituals as well. These days it is used primarily for jewelry, but it also has scientific value since ancient insects and plants are sometimes found trapped within. As you can probably guess, this raises the value of amber considerably.
Different Types of Amber
As previously mentioned, amber comes in many different varieties. Let’s go over each type of amber, and see what makes them special.

Red Amber – One of the rarer forms of amber is Red Amber. Sometimes called “Cherry Amber,” this form of amber is commonly used in jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, and more. Even so, this incredibly red-hued amber isn’t often found for sale due to its rarity.

Yellow Amber – Though not particularly rare, Yellow Amber is one of the most popular variants. This makes it a great choice for jewelry and fixtures, especially the deep golden-hued varients.

Blue Amber – This variant of amber comes exclusively from the Dominican Republic and is even rarer than Red Amber. This makes Blue Amber extremely valuable and sometimes difficult to acquire.

Black Amber – Black Amber is a variant that has been valued throughout history for its supposed mystical properties. In fact, Black Amber is particularly important in Astrology for its healing and protective powers.

White Amber – Sometimes known as “Bony Amber,” this variation is valued for having a unique texture and eye-catching color. Like other types of amber, it is used in studded jewelry.
Benefits of Amber
Being one of the most “mystical” gemstones thanks to its unique origins, amber is said to have quite a few supernatural properties. The good news is that these properties are pretty much all beneficial to the wearer/owner of the amber. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of amber, both practical, and mystical.
Lightweight & Unique
Whether you believe amber has mystical properties or not, you’ll certainly appreciate the fact that it is both lightweight and unique among the other gemstones. Being made through organic rather than geological processes, amber is always a good choice if you want something that stands out.
Brings Peace of Mind
One of the most important musical properties of amber is the fact that it is said to bring both mental and emotional peace when worn. It is said that it can help with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, and fear. Pregnant women and medical professionals in particular are said to benefit from wearing amber.
Who Should Wear Amber
Aside from the aforementioned pregnant women and medics, there are others who benefit from wearing amber when it comes to the gem’s mystical side. In Western Astrology, Capricorn, Virgo, Lego, Taurus, Pisces, Cancer, and Aquarius can all use amber as an alternate birthstone. In Indian Astrology, amber is paired with the Taurus zodiac sign.

Other people that are said to benefit from wearing amber include children undergoing the teething process, older individuals, and people experiencing chronic pain/stress. This is attributed to amber’s comforting energies that are said to reduce both physical and psychological discomfort.
